  3. I think I’m going to be the last person in the world to read this book. I bought it in the airport on the way home from BEA since I got Catching Fire there.

  7. I don’t think Kathy is going to be the last person to read it (that would be me!). I haven’t bought a copy yet, but I will. I’m not resisting the hype; I just haven’t gotten around to buying it yet.

  8. hehe… their trainer’s name is Haymitch, not Haymarket.

Great review! I loved your comment about the other characters being as compelling as Katniss. I think that was the factor that really made this book as addictive as I found it to be.

  12. Yes, I loved it too. I gushed about it only briefly, since so many people had already read it (http://necromancyneverpays.blogspot.com/2009/03/hunger-for-details.html).

  13. Loved this one. You’re right, there are some great characters and so much to explore. My favourite part of the book was the bit where the townspeople of District 12 don’t applaud and give Katniss their hand-to-mouth salute. I admit to crying.

  14. I’m resisting the hype for now, but I do want to read it. How could I not after so many positive reviews? I’ll probably wait until Catching Fire is out, though.

  16. I love your review, Nicole! I had exactly the same feelings before I started this book. This is usually not the kind of book that I read but I’m so glad I gave it a chance! I absolute loved it! If it hadn’t been for a great review on a book blog I never would have read it.

  17. YAY! So glad to see this.

Like you, I think it’s the characters that made the story for me. I’m still on Team Peeta (for now….until we see what happens in Catching Fire) though I have to say initially I was pissed at him. It’s one of the elements of the story that I just adored, the is he/isn’t he angle. Is he good is he evil? Is he in love with Katniss isn’t he?

It was all so very good.
