This Just In! A Lot Of Books!
Dragon House, by John Shors – I haven’t read that much about modern day Vietnam, but I was definitely intrigued
by the cover and the writing and I can’t wait to find out more. The author sent this book out to me for a mini-blog tour happening in mid-December.
In the Land of Cotton, Martha A. Taylor – Tells the tale of an unlikely friendship between two girls against the backdrop of Civil Rights era in the Deep South. I started reading this one right away and I got into it just as quickly. I’ve had to put it down for the moment due to other reading and blogging commitments but I can’t wait to finish it up.
Opening the Kimono, by Theresa Rose – I love memoirs and personal essays, so I am looking forward to what is promising to be an interesting and enlightening read about Theresa Rose’s experiences. I like that the title is a clever reference to baring it all.
The Girl on Legare Street, by Karen White – I am big scaredy cat, but I can usually handle slightly creepy story lines. I am hoping that Karen White doesn’t serve up more than I can handle with this one. It’s set in Charleston and I don’t think I have read anything set there just yet, so I am looking forward to this one.
The Postmistress, by Sarah Blake – If there is one thing that I have discovered since I started this blog, it’s that I love historical fiction! The Postmistress is that and has two strong female characters. It’s set in WWII, and I’m
not really big into war era fiction, but this one seemed too good to pass up.
Almost Home, by Pam Jenoff – I love books with secrets, and this one has a woman looking into the shameful secrets that her boyfriend found out about his family from WWII- secrets that he might have been murdered to protect. Another book which will be dealing with the war, but the story sounded so good. Actually it may not even be true that I avoid war stories. I’ve covered two in this post alone!
Daniel O’Thunder, by Ian Weir – This should definitely alert you to the fact that I am behind in these post because I have already read and reviewed this one as a part of Eco-Libris’s Green Books Campaign. Definitely not something I would have picked out on my own but I really ended up liking the book.
Even more books to come. I got really, really behind with these!

The Postmistress is a book that’s set in WWII but isn’t really about war. It’s much more about how ordinary people are effected by war. I really liked it; it has some wonderfully real characters.
