All About Books, and Me, and Me & Books.

BBAW Celebrate Books2 All About Books, and Me, and Me & Books.

Do you snack while you read? If so, favorite reading snack?

Not really.  Maybe some popcorn.

Do you tend to mark your books as you read, or does the idea of writing in books horrify you?

Not horrifying, but don’t mark.

How do you keep your place while reading a book? Bookmark? Dog-ears? Laying the book flat open?

None. I just know.

Fiction, Non-fiction, or both?

Both. But lots more fiction.

Hard copy or audiobooks?

Both. Hard copies are love though.

Are you a person who tends to read to the end of chapters, or are you able to put a book down at any point?

I can just stop anytime.

If you come across an unfamiliar word, do you stop to look it up right away?

Is the context good enough?

What are you currently reading?

Crossed Wires, by Rosy Thornton

What is the last book you bought?

Angelica, by Arthur Philips.  Totally Vivienne’s fault.

Are you the type of person that only reads one book at a time or can you read more than one at a time?

I can read many books.

Do you have a favorite time of day and/or place to read?

Anytime.  Anyplace.

Do you prefer series books or stand alone books?

I stand alone.

Is there a specific book or author that you find yourself recommending over and over?

Kindred – Octavia Butler. The Heretic’s Daughter – Kathleen Kent.

How do you organize your books? (By genre, title, author’s last name, etc.?)

No order.  All over the place.

Wow!  I was concise, for once.

I knew you were smart! If I didn’t mark my place it would take me forever to figure it out when I picked the book back up.

Yes, you were very concise I would say. A lot more than I managed to be. Many answers of yours are quite similar to mine, especially that ‘anytime, anyplace’ one, lol!

  3. Meghan says:

Wow, you just know where you are in a book? I’m impressed! If I can’t find any paper or anything to mark the page, I often try to remember where I was, but then I forget. LOL.

Like you, my sister “just knows” where she left off in a book — it always amazes me! She absolutely refuses to use bookmarks, though you know her book-loving big sister has gotten her plenty over the years :) You ladies have great brains!

Stand alone books are my favorites, too. Sometimes it really annoys me that if I’ve read one book in a series I didn’t particularly love, I still feel compelled to grab the next one — especially if it ends on a cliff-hanger! Frustrating!

I see you’re reading Crossed Wires right now — I loved that book!! All the British dialogue was fascinating to me. :) Hope you’re enjoying it, and can’t wait to see your review!

I love popcorn! If I had thought of it, I would have added it to my meme. I’m just not a big snacker.

  6. Ti says:

I sometimes skip a bookmark, thinking that I can remember the page that I am on, but then I forgot that I have 2-4 books going at once so by the time I get back to the book I’ve forgotten. However, I can usually find my place again.

My problem with pretty bookmarks is that my daughter sees something pretty and then yanks it out. So if I use one, lately it’s been just scraps of paper or junk mail or my notebook that I used for notes.

Wow–I can’t believe you can just remember where you left off.

I’ve been meaning to read The Heretic’s Daughter for awhile now but still haven’t picked up a copy.

  8. Nice insights – and wow – no bookmark? How do you do that?!?

  9. Madeleine says:

Wow! You’re the only person whose meme I’ve read that is like me in the memory department! Who needs bookmarks? Who needs to reach the end of the chapter? I prefer those things, but they certainly aren’t a necessity!

I only like to eat popcorn when i am seeing a movie…. with extra butter and salted! :D
And i can read only one book at a time!
How do u just remember where you stopped… i am so lost trying to figure out where i stopped .. w/o bookmarks i would be re reading a page million times :D

i will definitely check out The Heretic’s Daughter – Kathleen Kent.

I was just commenting on another post saying I like a good hardcover as well. That more times than not, though, I get the hard cover because I’m just so impatient to read a book and purchase it when it’s released. :)

Brilliant! I think we are all having issues with that brevity thing, but you were a master! I am also a reader of multiple books at once. Audios, hardbooks, reading with the kids…its all good!

Angelica sounds so awesome…I want it too!

I mooched Kindred recently and you and other bloggers are totally to blame. I’ll have to keep an eye out for The Heretic’s Daughter!
