I have long wanted to get together a group of bloggers who live in or nearish enough in the city to get together to hang out, grab a bite to eat and get to know each other – maybe do a book swap or something. Other groups have managed to do this this successfully and I am jealous – I admit it. I want that for the Northeast! Or the Mid-Atlantic! Wherever it is that I am geographically.
I have been waiting patiently for someone to suggest said group or get together, and it just hasn’t happened! One of my favorite things to say to my mother is “nature abhors a vacuum.” It frightens her when I say this. Truly. Because she knows that I am am a) going to put something in a space that she has just cleared out, or b) create or organize something. I have tried to resist this about myself, but I can’t so…
I am forming an association. It’s called NESBEA (North Eastern Society of Book Bloggers for Excellent Adventures) and it’s pronounced nez-bee, and yes I have given this way too much thought which probably tells you more about me than I want you to know. But after naming my online book club – BOOK CLUB, I figured I needed to up my game. I needed acronyms. The association has one member so far. Me.
The first meeting will be on Saturday, February 12th at 12:30 for brunch at a location that will be decided shortly. This all depends on whether the association is still just one person.
Depending on the venue, brunch will be no more than $25 (including tax and tip) for a brunch item, coffee/tea, and one beverage (alcoholic, but you can probably get it without). This might include unlimited beverages. Like I said, I have to see.
I figure at the very least those of us in the area can get together at least quarterly for brunch, a book swap and some bookish chat and other adventures.
Don’t leave me hanging. Give me your info so I can be in touch with location and other details!
