I had seen this trailer ahead of the last few movies I’ve gone too and I kept meaning to put it up, but then kept forgetting. Though it looks like a bit of a downer and a sort of retread of similar movies about the turmoil that happens in a child’s life at the death of a parent, I am very curious about this adaptation of Jonathan Safran Foer’s Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close. I tried to read Everything Is Illuminated with my book club, but just couldn’t get through it. It was just a little too weird for me. Did anyone have any luck with either of his books or this movie? Oscar bait or the real thing?

I didn’t particularly like the book, but I do think the movie looks good!
Marg´s last [type] ..A Wildflower Hill Christmas
I read EL&IC in January this year and fell in love with it! It was a little strange but not too much and once I got it I thought it was wonderful. I’m currently re-reading it before we see the movie (hopefully on Christmas). I’m thinking the movie will be really good!
Jenny´s last [type] ..The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo
I got the audio for Everything Is Illuminated, but didn’t finish it. I didn’t dislike it, it just didn’t capture me so I let it go by the wayside. EL&IC is on my book club’s reading list this year.
Lori – What Remains Now´s last [type] ..Felt = Coasters
I really enjoyed the book, even though part of it (involving the grandparents) was a bit of a buzz kill and was really confusing. The part about the boy, though, was just beyond precious. I have high hopes for this movie. Every time I see the trailer I weep.
Sandy´s last [type] ..The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo (2011)
This was a great book that I read a few years before starting to blog. I can’t wait to see the movie and see if it does the book justice. I thought the book was really well done and told a heartrending story, but I haven’t heard good things about Everything is Illuminated and have stayed away from it. I would recommend giving this one a try though, and seeing what you think.

I haven’t read the book and must before I see the movie. I want to think the movie will be great with the actors that are in it but am afraid that the previews will be the best part? I hope I am wrong and am just being cynical!
Kathleen´s last [type] ..I’ll be Here Instead of on the Computer
I loved the book. All of it. I’m sure the movie will be fine; it’ll be awhile since I wait to watch at home.
