Friends With Benefits – Movie Trailer

Little Women

Don’t get too excited. I’m not really here. I’m off this week spreading holiday cheer and you know…eating. So movies are taking over the blog for the next few days. Specifically movies that I want to see in ’11. We’ll be back to more or less regular programming on January 1st. If any of these interest you too let me know and we will yak it up when I get back. Hope you are having a great time wherever you are and whatever you are doing! Carry on.

So it looks like there will be a few of these movies where friends try to maintain a purely physical relationship in order to meet their, ahem, needs.  Natalie Portman and Ashton Kutcher have No Strings Attached, which I believe will proceed the releaseof Friends With Benefits.  It doesn’t look like there will be very many surprises with either of these, but this trailer made me laugh in a few places. The little girl explaining that she doesn’t want to hear life problems because she is nine, the conversation on acceptable curse words, and the strategic placement of the Third Eye Blind song crack me up…as does Woody Harrelson giving advice.  I am very easily amused at times.

Over the years, the debate amongst my friends about whether men and women are capable of true friendship and whether the sexes are capable of having purely physical relationships with neither party developing feelings or getting hurt, has intensified. The most famous literary couple, that I can think of, who faced this dilemma was Jo and Laurie in Little Women, and the outcome there broke my heart.  As I have said before, I will never forgive Louisa for doing what she did!  I am drawing a blank on others.  Who have you got for me?

July 2011.  Starring Justin Timberlake, Mila Kunis, and Woody Harrelson.  Directed by Will Gluck.

  1. I have to say, if any other actor was in this movie I probably wouldn’t see it, but I do love Justin Timberlake so um I’ll probably see it in the theater, haha. Thanks for sharing the trailer; I hadn’t seen it yet!
