I wasn't aware of the Green Books Campaign-it's a fantastic idea! Your review is terrific, I really got a very gopod feel for the book. I tend to like when a tough, intense book uses humor to cut the tension but I come from a family well-versed in black humor! It's very cool that you stuck with the book and ended up happy you read it!

Not sure if you are posting from the US, but the average price for a new work of hardcover fiction in Canada is somewhere between $28.95 - $32.95, and the price you are referring to in the case of this wonderful novel is indeed the Canadian list price.

And I have to agree: This a tremendously entertaining novel. Perfect for this time of year!

I probably wouldn't have chosen this one either. Glad you found it to be a worthwhile read.

I think it is always wonderful when you pick up a book that threatens to be everything you don't like, and you find it a treasure. And way to go on the green campaign. I'm wondering where the hell I was when the call went out!

I also found that the recycled paper in my book was top quality...creamy just like you said. I hope more publishers are willing to go this rout!

I recently started reading a book with my daughter, it was her assigned book for school. It too was a classic - Red Badge of Courage. I spent more time explaining the content to my daughter than reading although, explaining it to her helped to understand what was going on in the story.
