  5. Great review! It is more thorough than mine, but similar, since I began by saying “I could not put this book down!” What a loss it is that Butler died so relatively young!

  8. What a great review. It sounds like a must-read for many reasons. I don’t normally read SF, so I would have missed a book classified as such. I wonder how the Time Traveler’s Wife is classified?

  9. Wow, you really liked this book. I don’t normally care for science-fiction but this doesn’t sound creepy. Excellent review.

  11. I think this was the most powerful part of the review for me: “The absurdity and horror of slavery should have been some awful science fiction alternate universe, but alas, that part was actually real.” This sounds like a very intense read.

  12. I just finished reading “Kindred” a couple of days ago. It was assigned as part of my poli sci coursework, but I couldn’t put it down. I completely agree with what you have said. “Kindred” is a powerful, complex novel.

  13. I only heard about this book sometime last week and it immediately made me want to read it. I finished it today and I’m so impressed by it. The writing is excellent but what makes it even greater is that it’s about a black woman who might even be a sceptic, as I am.
