Musing Mondays: Reading on the Run

Musing Mondays: Reading on the Run

I always like to have a book with me at all times – call it a nerdy grown-up security blanket – and rarely do I leave the house without slipping one into my bag (even if I KNOW I’m not going to have a chance to read it). Do you take a book with you? Do you take whatever book you’re currently reading, or do you have a special on-the-go book? And do you have a preference for
a these types of book (paperback, hardback; short stories; poetry etc)?

I have a book with me wherever I go.  It’s more often that not the one that I am reading at the time.  Sometimes I carry two if I think I am going to  finish whatever it is that I am currently reading.  I want to make sure that I can start something else.  Having a book with me at all time has saved my sanity a lot of times.  You just never know when you’re going to be stuck in a long line, in traffic or waiting for someone. Reading for just a few minutes here and there has upped my reading time and made me more patient in the face of a long line.  At the post office, I laugh as people suck their teeth, roll their eyes and curse and carry on about how long and slow the line is.  I am content just flipping the pages of my book.

I feel sorry for those poor people in ques without books too! I once read half of Anne Frank’s Diary while stuck in a queue – it was a LONG queue.

I’d be right there laughing along with you. I get so much reading done when you add up all those little snatches of time. Why all people don’t take advantage of these times I have no idea.

Patience is a virtue indeed for those of us who carry a book to read :)

  8. Nicole says:

Often times I don’t get to start the second one, but still I’d rather not be stuck without anything and have a lot of time on my hands.

  9. Nicole says:

And the thing about long lines is you never know when you will run into one. so it is best to be prepared. I have pulled out my book while in line to pay for groceries.

  10. Nicole says:

What’s funny is, the day I posted this, I ran out of the house and left my book.

  11. Nicole says:

You better. You have that big goal you’re working on! :-)

  12. Nicole says:

    Indeed. I love the rhyme.

  13. Nicole says:

Some days I never get to read at home. I’m always reading on the road.
