“I burned all my early work! I lit a bonfire and burned years’ worth of writing.”

I know exactly how she feels. It’s quite hard though, and I speak from experience, of letting go of your early work. They sort of have this gooey bond with you because they signify your early approach to writing. By letting go and re-reading what you’ve done, your writing style is sure to evolve (unless you’re very stubborn, or blind, or both) and improve as time passes.
