  1. [New Interview] Out of Twenty: 9 Questions for Cathy Marie Buchanan http://www.linussblanket.com/2009/10/out...

  2. Wow, that is a great interview! I especially loved the answer to the most interesting thing question of yours! I can’t believe it took 16 years and demolshing of so many buildings to get the Niagara Falls the way it is now!
I knew next to nothing about the history of this Falls. I am surely putting this book into my wishlist!

  3. That was an excellent interview! I am always fascinated that many authors don’t start out knowing they want to write. A biochemist that couldn’t spell? It really just emphasizes the point that the gift can be in anyone. I’t not seen one lukewarm review on this book, so obviously this lady does have a gift!

  5. Wonderful interview! I really enjoyed THE DAY THE FALLS STOOD STILL (another one we have in common!) I went to Niagara Falls when I was 5 years old so I only remember a very little bit!

  6. I found it so interesting that the author’s inability to spell kept her from writing for so long. Thank heavens for spell check! I’m really looking forward to reading this book.

    • Thanks for the wonderful interview Cathy. You are just a treasure trove of information. I definitely plan to get to Niagara again. There really is a pull to the Falls. I understand why people were drawn to jump in it.

  7. great interview questions. I really like learning about Niagara falls. I always considered it an awesome force…since I went to visit with my parents as a pre-teen, but to know that even what I saw was not the full magnitude of its power is amazing to me.

I really love that Cathy overcame her spelling problems to write! This novel is fantastic and I loved it.

    • It i so hard to comprehend that so much power is being harnessed and diverted away from Niagara. It’s amazing. I loved the book a lot! Glad you enjoyed it too.

  8. Thank you for sharing your interview with us. I am so intrigued that the author wasn’t really a writer until after she had already received an MBA and embarked upon another career. She has certainly made up for lost time!

  9. I enjoyed reading your thoughts and hearing from the author. I hope to get to this book soon.

  10. Meg

I won this book recently, and now I’m even more excited to read it! :) Great interview, very interesting… and I loved hearing more about Niagara Falls. I stayed on the Canadian side a few years ago with my family and had such an awesome time. You think, “OK, giant waterfall… um, great?” But until you’re standing there — preferrably on the Maid of the Mist! — it doesn’t feel real! Looking up at it is absolutely incredible. We walked around by the falls for hours and I still wasn’t bored!

    • I was so in awe of the Falls. It’s really amazing to go and see it. It’s funny you say that because I totally went there as a side trip when I was visiting in Toronto. Not the main attraction. Big deal, a waterfall. And then you see it and understand!

  11. This settles it – I’m getting this book (and reading it myself) and giving it to my bro for Christmas. Thanks!

How interesting that her favorite character to write was Isabel. I enjoyed Isabel’s complexity as well.

Also, great question about what books Tom and Bess would read.

  13. A friend has been nice enough to offer me a copy of her book and I am so excited about the opportunity to read it. I am glad that the author did decide to become a writer after all. :-)

Niagara Falls has such a rich history. I’ve only ever been there twice in my life, but it made a huge impression on me.
