The Lincoln Lawyer – Movie Trailer

Don’t get too excited. I’m not really here. I’m off this week spreading holiday cheer and you know…eating. So movies are taking over the blog for the next few days. Specifically movies that I want to see in ’11. We’ll be back to more or less regular programming on January 1st. If any of these interest you too let me know and we will yak it up when I get back. Hope you are having a great time wherever you are and whatever you are doing! Carry on.

My first thought on seeing this trailer is that Matthew McConaughey was doing his thing in yet another John Grisham movie. The slightly shady, wheeler dealer lawyer who all of a sudden gets THE CASE, is a role that he could play in his sleep.  As it turns out the movie is based on a Michael Connelly novel, and if I hadn’t been hiding under a rock somewhere, I might have read The Lincoln Lawyer already.  Connelly was also a writer on the script.  The appearance of Ryan Phillippe, who looks to be finally entering the ranks of the grown and sexy, further piqued my interest and sealed the deal.  I suspect that I have seen this movie before, but hey, one more time won’t kill me.

March 2011.  Starring Marisa Tomei, Matthew McConaughey, Michaela Conlin, William H. Macy. Directed by Brad Furman.

  1. I’m undecided on this one. I used to ADORE MM, early in his career, but now he just seems like a big goof. Same thing with Marisa Tomei. Then I saw her (or her hoochy double) going at it with Phillip Seymour Hoffman in Before the Devil Knows You’re Dead, and my image was tainted. Ick.

    1. Eew! I am going ti try to forget that you said that about Marisa Tomei. MM does seem to have fallen off lately but it seems like he might be making it back to somewhat regular form.

  2. Ooh I have this on my TBR… I had no idea they were making it a movie!!
Matthew McConaughey really does play the same kind of roles again and again, doesn’t he!

  3. I had no idea Lincoln Lawyer was made into a movie. I loved the book and the movie looks good. Although Matthew McConaughey isn’t the one I would cast for Mickey Haller though. I pictured him slightly older and more rugged. But not complaining… seeing MM on the big screen works for me!

    1. I want to read the book! It’s funny that you mention the character struck you as older as especially since there seems like a lot of older and rugged actors who would be available to play this part.

  4. I haven’t read Lincoln Lawyer but I really do want to. Maybe I’ll try before the movie comes out. Hope your having a wonderful holiday break.

    1. You’re welcome. I do think I want to try and get my hands on a copy of the books before I see the movies. But I have some tome since I will likely see it on DVD as well.
