Wonderful review! I read The Night Gardener by this author a couple of years ago and had a similar reaction. The author really got into the minds of the characters. Everything--and everyone--was so real. And I hear that's not even his best book. I look forward to reading this one by him as well as some of his earlier work. (I admit I am a huge fan of The Wire.)

I wanted to get this one at BEA, but the line was too long and I was running out of time. It sounds great. I love books with lots of character building. And, a mystery thrown in for a bonus!

Great review, but this is probably my least favorite Pelecanos book. Wait till you read some others!

I really liked this book, and I'm glad you did too! I saw an interview with George Pelecanos and the incident in the book is based on an event that really happened.
