This Just In! Still Alice, Lisa Genova
Why This? This is one of those books where the cover got me. I kept seeing it in Barnes & Noble and I would be drawn to the pretty, and pick it up and visit with it, and then wander off to buy something else. Had absolutely no idea what it was about. I finally gave in to temptation. As I often do with new books, I read the first few pages to see how I liked the writing and the style (only after I bought it for the cover!) and I had to make myself put it down. I am really looking forward to getting into this one.
What’s It About? Alice Howland is proud of the life she worked so hard to build. At fifty years old, she’s a cognitive psychology professor at Harvard and a world-renowned expert in linguistics with a successful husband and three grown children. When she becomes increasingly disoriented and forgetful, a tragic diagnosis changes her life- and her relationship with her family and the world- forever.
Sounds good doesn’t it?

I checked this book out weeks ago and haven’t read it yet. The bad thing is that I had to return it yesterday unread. I can’t wait to read your thoughts on it.

I knew living above a Barnes & Noble would be dangerous for you. I had hoped to make it to The Strand while I was in New York, but never did. It’s probably just as well.

I agree – covers are critical. I feel bad for Cutting for Stone, because it is such a great book and I can’t see the cover attracting someone walking by.

I’m so glad you live above B&N — you can alert me to books that I might have missed, like this one. It does sound good!

Sounds fabulous — can’t wait to see your review on this one. I’ve seen the book around, but never read it. If you like it, odds are I will.
