Vanishing on 7th Street – Movie Trailer

Don’t get too excited. I’m not really here. I’m off this week spreading holiday cheer and you know…eating. So movies are taking over the blog for the next few days. Specifically movies that I want to see in ’11. We’ll be back to more or less regular programming on January 1st. If any of these interest you too let me know and we will yak it up when I get back. Hope you are having a great time wherever you are and whatever you are doing! Carry on.

Last one, and then the book talk will come back and reclaim the blog!

So you know how there are movies that normally you would think would be not so good, but then you find out a certain actor or actress is in it, so it gives you some slight hope that that film will be good, or better than the average? Well…Hayden Christensen is not that actor for me.  So when I saw him appear on the screen I was all, *meh*.  But then I saw Thandie Newton, whom I enjoy, and John Leguizamo, who is very entertaining and usually a good actor. I have a feeling that this is their “dear god the taxes on my house are due soon, and I need groceries” movie, but I feel a little bit better about this than if they were not in it.  Sorry Hayden.

Starring Hayden Christensen, Thandie Newton & John Leguizamo.

  1. I’ve not heard of this movie but I love when a flick you think will only be so-so, turns out to be entertaining. (ZombieLand, anyone?!) There was also a movie a long time ago that I missed that really liked when I eventually found it: The Big White/2005. Have you seen it? Just to read the cast list and wonder how it didn’t get any mktg, I thought it would be just horrible and it was rather fun.

    1. With horror movies it seems like it could go either way. I always love it when they give some story and explain it. That’s all it takes for a good movie, for it to make a little sense. But often they don’t do that. I haven’t heard of Zombieland or The Big White, but I will look for them since they turned out to be good.

  2. The trailer looks really good. I know what you mean about Hayden Christiansen. I always think of his role in Star Wars and that cheesy dialogue he had to recite. But Thandie Newton is phenomenal so I am hopeful for this movie!

    1. I haven’t seen him in that, but I have seen him in a few other things. i don’t think he has really found the role that shows hom to his best advantage. I love Thandie too. The movie looks like it could actually be interesting if they answer the questions that it raises and make some sense.
