Before I’ve actually read a book, I usually don’t do a very good job of retaining info on what they are about. So when I picked up Melanie Gideon’s Wife 22, I was pretty clueless (polygamy, maybe?) but in for a real treat.
Wife 22 follows the story of Alice Buckle. She has been married twenty years and works part-time in her family’s community as a drama teacher. Her relationships with her children are undergoing changes. She suspects her son might be gay, and communications with her teenage daughter are especially tense. After a cutting remark made by her husband at one of his work functions, Alice decides to participate in a research study examining modern marriage. Alice become fully absorbed in the study, and it has surprising ramifications on her work, life outlook and marriage.
